Easter

In Spain, Easter Monday is the festivity when people celebrate Jesus' resurrection. Actually, we don't call it 'Easter' but 'Pacua', and in French it is called 'Paques'. It comes after the Holy Week.

Holy Week begins on Palm Sunday. On this day, we celebrate the arrival of Jesus in Jerusalem. Christianity says that its inhabitants received him with palms, that is why this day is called like that. For this reason, priests bless the palms in the churches.

A few days after comes Holy Thursday. We celebrate the Last Supper of Jesus and his twelve apostles.

Next, we have Holy Friday, the day when Jesus was crucified. He was buried in a cave, which was covered with a big rock.

Finally, three days later, we celebrate Easter Monday. On this date, Jesus resurrected miraculously from the dead. It's typical to eat 'La Mona', a dessert made with marzipan and chocolate, spaghetti squash jam or cream inside. To decorate it, we add eggs and jelly.

In UK and the USA, Easter Bunny comes on Easter Monday and hides the eggs in the gardens, so the children have to find them.
